Day 0 - Thursday, Sept 12 - Getting ready
Last March my mother said that she was signing up for a Road Scholar trip from Beijing to Moscow via the Trans-Siberia Railroad. Carmen encouraged me to go so I signed up as well. https://www.roadscholar.org/find-an-adventure/19580/trans-siberian-railway-from-beijing-to-moscow.
This our route:
At long last we are almost underway. Packing is always a bit nerve wracking, making sure nothing critical is forgotten even though I have a list of things to bring - it is important to double-check the list.
My mother came down this afternoon and took me in to the Hertz rental office in Kingston to pick up a car to drive to Newark. For an almost 3-week trip, it is cheaper to take rental cars down and back than to park at the airport for this length of time.
Carmen left yesterday for Maine yesterday to be with her sister Cathy who is having hip-replacement surgery today. The surgery went well and Carmen will be bringing her home on Friday.
